Major Champion Bernhard Langer and his 23-year-old son Jason carded a final round 59 to overcome a three-shot deficit to win the 2023 PNC Championship.

This was Bernhard’s fifth victory, after previously winning with eldest son Stefan in 2005 and 2006, and Jason in 2014 and 2019. He has also competed with both of his daughters, Jackie and Christina.

“Very special. It's always special whether you win or not, just being here is like the Olympics. They only take 20 teams and there's probably 25 on the waiting list that would love to be here. It's always a wonderful thing to get an invitation to come and play here, and as you all know, I've got four kids, played with all four of them, and we have a lot of wonderful memories. Also, from now on, I'm on vacation. So, this is a bonus here. When this tournament is over, we're heading tomorrow to Europe to Germany and spend time over there.”

Jason Langer on what the week has meant to him…
“It was a ton of fun. I said it earlier, but I don't get to play as much golf anymore, and I don't get to see my parents and my family quite as much. To be able to play golf as a family and in a beautiful spot and great competition and play a really good golf course, it's amazing.” 2001 Open Champion, David Duval, finished second with son Brady.

On why it is so special to be invited to the PNC Championship each year…
“It's the best golfing week of the year. You're on pins and needles once August kind of rolls around, hoping to see that e-mail from Alastair with the invite. I think certainly with the majority of folks who play at our age, it's the most coveted invite in golf, as well, and I think as you could argue, it's the hardest field to get into. To be asked to come back and participate, it's a dream come true every year it happens.” Tiger Woods, playing with son Charlie for their fourth outing at the PNC Championship, finished T5. On his favourite part of the week… “I think the whole week, to be able to share it with my family. To have both my kids out there the last two days has been so special. Just grateful for us to be able to have these types of experiences, for Charlie and I to have done this for four years in a row now since the start of COVID, to be able to come out here, and for all of us as families to come out and enjoy the week, it's special. And for me, I haven't seen a lot of these guys because a lot of them are on the Champions Tour and quite frankly I haven't played a lot. So it was nice to catch up with them this week and see all their families.”

Ten-time major winner Annika Sorenstam, playing with 12-year-old son Will McGee, shot a pair of 64s to finish 10th. On being out there competing with Will…

“It's so much fun. We have a good time together. Obviously he wanted to do a little better today but I think just walking together and is having a good time, and I was walking pretty fast on 18. He said, "Slow down, Mummy, I want to enjoy this moment. I think that's kind of what we did.”
